Date established:  1989

Purpose:

-           Initial formation of young women, Education and development in all its forms.

-           Paying particular attention to the children, the youth, the women especially the poor among them.

-           To be a unifying presence among the people.

-           To promote and engage in pastoral work.

 

Mission / Apostolate:

-           Schools, postulancy, children, liturgy, working with Catholic Women Organization, Youth postulate, Parish Pastoral Council, choir.

-           Formation of Associates, we pay attention to the less privileged.

 

Significant events:

-           Final profession of Sister Clare Adelakun and Ejiro Umiaghwa on Friday 28th June, 2013.

            -           Yearly Reception of Postulants.

-           Celebration of the 10th / 25th Anniversary of Maryland Nursery and Primary Schools, December, 2013.

-           Establishment of Maryland Catholic Grammar School in 1988

-           Participation in Building parishioners’ faith.

-           Participation in the work of Evangelization e.g. opening of new out stations:  (Iresadu, Ololo, St. Anne, St. Joseph, Federal College, Tewure, Isele, Iluju, Odo-oba etc.)

 

 

Challenges:

-           Poverty of the people we work with – e.g. payment of school fees very difficult for some.

-           Attitudes of people concerning faith especially when it comes to church’s program -  Organized activities are poorly attended.

-           Difficult of transportation to reach our people.

 

How to charism is being spread:

            -           By paying special attention to the poor ones in our mission.

            -           By collaborating with others to promote justice, love and peace in our society.

            -           Home visitation

            -           By empowering women/youth to be self-reliant.

            -           By creating sense of awareness towards their civic and spiritual duties.

-           By our simple life style drawing people to us and helping them feel at home, sharing their struggles and challenges with us.

-           By offering for young girls to share in our charism.

-           Organizing the associates to share in our charism.

-           By encouraging the parents to set their priority right in discharging their duties as parents.
